annette hawkins biography
Annette Hawkins began her dance training in Afro Caribbean Dance under the direction of Jimmy Payne. She continued her studies in jazz dance with Joseph Holmes before obtaining a scholarship in jazz and ballet with the Chicago City Theatre under the direction of Joel Hall. A highly respected teacher and guest choreographer, Annette has performed professionally with the International Dance Ensemble, Butterfly, Sundance Productions and the African American Unity Ensemble. In addition to dancing, Annette is the Founder and Director of the Satin Doll Model of the Year Awards and the annual "Dance Sistah, Dance" Festival. She is a member of the Chicago Dance and Music Alliance, The African American Unity Ensemble, and The Mahogany Scholarship Foundation where she serves as choreographer of the Mahogany Scholarship Pageant. Having received her diploma in Fitness and Nutrition, Annette has also worked as an instructor teaching advanced level aerobics and toning classes. |
